Too many acts, terrible sound
"First, I went because my wife is not a country fan. Gave me time to critique the show. Personally didn't see much stage presence in either Thomas Rhett or Justin Moore. Pick one. Not a country fan. The Jukebox Mafia who filled the break between Justin Moore and Hawthorne Heights were the best part of the evening leading up to Hawthorne Heights. 3 acts to fill time was 1 too many.
Hawthorne Heights was fun, but I found their lighting and stage setup distracting. It was a conscious effort to do so. They were fun, and I liked their set, BUT.... The large video playing behind them was very distracting. I had to refocus my attention on them, rather than the videos playing.
The sound was atrocious. No dynamics to the sound at all. If you didn't know the words to the songs, you had little hope in understanding them. I've been to large shows, small shows, theaters, outdoor venues, bars, and many concerts, and this was one of the worst sounding shows I can recall. If these were their sound people, I'd fire them. If they were hired locally, I'd never use them again. Vocals were lost in the muddy mix of bass, drums, and bottom end. My wife also commented that she felt the sound was horrible."
